EMDR Therapy – Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing

My clients report after EMDR Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing that they are amazed how quickly they feel better and find life more enjoyable; recollection of the past becomes almost like watching a movie instead of living in the repetition compulsion cycle of intrusive and destabilizing thoughts.

EMDR Therapy activates the right and left hemisphere of the brain through gentle stimulation while focusing on target memories in a contained and safe way. Sometimes called Eye Movement Therapy for short, EMDR therapy for PTSD, sexual abuse, sex addiction, and attachment trauma has been found to be very effective; the body mind system shifts in lasting and significant ways.

In my office I use both a light board that stimulates the eyes to move back and forth, a tac scan which the client holds in their hands (sending a soft pulse from right to left), or sound that rocks from ear to ear.

Is EMDR right for me?

-Do you have physical symptoms from emotional trauma like depression, anxiety, vaginismus, or sexual dysfunctions?

-Do you have intrusive thoughts about past traumas?

-Have you tried other forms of therapy without results?

-Are you a sexual abuse survivor?

-Are you an Adult Child of an Alcoholic?

-Do you get stuck in fear or anger?

-Are you a recovering addict?

If you answered yes to any of the above EMDR may be right for you. Many of my clients are amazed by how things start to shift after EMDR Therapy.

What to Expect from EMDR

Sometimes clients report they have increased memories between sessions; doors that were closed long ago start to open inside the self. Sessions can be peaceful, even relaxing; it is empowering to get in touch with the authentic self. The benefits of EMDR Therapy include: decreased worry, anxiety, and depression, a greater sense of well-being and happiness in all aspects of life, increased self-esteem, more energy, less urging to act out sexually, and an overall ability to make and sustain better life choices.
